نامه جمعی از روشنفکران و فعالان ایرانی به مردم آمریکا

جمعی از فعالان سیاسی و مدنی، روشنفکران و روزنامه‌نگاران ایرانی در نامه‌ای به مردم آمریکا از آنها خواسته‌اند به نمایندگان منتخب خود در کنگره در مورد حمایت از این توافق نامه فشار بیاورند.

نویسندگان نامه نوشته‌اند: «ما عمیقاً باور داریم که راه حل عادلانه و منطقی برای مناقشات بین‌المللی از طریق مذاکره است نه استفاده از حق قدرت و تحمیل نظرات یکجانبه.»

ما امضاء کنندگان این نامه گروهی از فعالان، روشنفکران، روزنامه نگاران و حقوقدانان و استادان دانشگاه و اصلاح طلبان جامعه مدنی ایران هستیم.

این نامه را در این لحظه تاریخی در مناسبات میان دو کشور می‌نویسیم که حمایت شما را از توافق هسته‌ای شناخته شده برنامه عمل مشترک فراگیر جلب کنیم. ما به تساهل، تکثرگرایی، حقوق بشر و روابط صلح آمیز میان ملت ها باور داریم و متعهدیم.

ما عمیقاً باور داریم که راه حل عادلانه و منطقی برای مناقشات بین‌المللی از طریق مذاکره است نه استفاده از حق قدرت و تحمیل نظرات یکجانبه.

ما قویا باور داریم که اگر این توافقنامه هسته‌ای تصویب و اجرا شود، موجب تحقق تدریجی این ارزش های جهانی در ایران همراه با امکان روابط بهتر میان دو ملت ما خواهد بود.

ما عمیقا نگران پیامدهایی هستیم که ممکن است در نتیجه رد این توافقنامه هسته‌ای به وجود آید؛ تحریم های اقتصادی و خطر بروز جنگ افزایش خواهد یافت. جنگی که برای خاورمیانه یک فاجعه خواهد بود. یک جنگ دیگر در منطقه موجب تقویت نیروهای افراطی و نادیده گرفتن نیروهایی که برای تقریب مسالمت آمیز و صلح محور کار می کنند، می شود؛ اثرات پی در پی یک جنگ دیگر به مراتب وسیع تر خواهد بود و سیستم بین المللی را برای سالهای آینده بی ثبات خواهد ساخت.

به تمام دلایل یاد شده در بالا در این مقطع تاریخی حساس ما به شما رجوع می کنیم. ما از شما می خواهیم که از این فرصت بی‌همتا استفاده کنید و به نمایندگان منتخب خود در کنگره در مورد حمایت از این توافق نامه فشار بیاورید.

یک فرصت دیگر، در این ابعاد، ممکن است در طول عمر ما پیش نیاید. برای نسل‌های آینده ایرانیان، آمریکایی‌ها و مردم خاورمیانه باید دسته جمعی صدای خود را در حمایت از صلح و دیپلماسی بلند کنیم.

ما چشم به روزی در آینده داریم که ما ایرانیان نیازی نداشته باشیم که به مردم آمریکا نامه بنویسیم، اما بتوانیم با احترام متقابل و شرافتمندانه بر اساس ارزش های متمدنانه که ما را، به عنوان شهروندان این کره خاکی به هم پیوند می زند، با هم روبه‌رو شویم.

‌متن انگلیسی نامه:

We are a group of Iranian civil society activists, intellectuals, journalists, lawyers, university professors, religion investigators, senior members of political parties and reformists. We are writing to you at this historic moment in the relations between our two countries to make an appeal for your support of the nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action
We have long been committed to upholding the values of tolerance, pluralism, human rights and the peaceful relations between nations. We deeply that the just and reasonable solution for international disputes is through negotiation not by using the right of power and imposing unilateral views. We strongly believe if this nuclear agreement is approved and implemented, it holds the promise of the gradual realization of these universal values within Iran, along with the possibility of better relations between our two nations.
We are deeply concerned about the consequences that might result from the rejection of this nuclear agreement. Economic sanctions against Iran will increase, as will the likelihood of war. This would be a catastrophe for the Middle East. Another war in this region would strengthen the forces of extremism and undermine the forces that work for nonviolence, peace and reconciliation; the ripple effects of another war would be felt far and wide, and would destabilize the international system for years to come.
For all of the above reasons, we are appealing to you at this critical juncture in history. We urge you to seize this unique opportunity, and to impress upon your elected representatives in Congress the importance of supporting this nuclear agreement. Another opportunity of this magnitude may not present itself again in our lifetime. We owe it to future generations of Iranians, Americans and Middle Easterners to raise our collective voices in support of peace and diplomacy.
We look forward to a day in the future when Iranians no longer have to write open letters to Americans, but can meet face to face with mutual respect and dignity based on shared civilizational values that bind us together as citizens of this planet. Sincerely,
