اتحادیه اروپا: ایران در ماه رمضان اعدامها را متوقف سازد
ایران امروز – دفتر ریاست اتحادیه اروپا امروز با صدور اعلامیه‌ای اعتراض خود را به اعدام بهنام زارع اعلام کرده و از جمهوری اسلامی خواست که در ماه رمضان اجرای همه احکام اعدام را متوقف ساخته و تعهد خود را به قوانین بین‌المللی و تعهدات قضایی خود به جهان نشان دهد.
متن اعلامیه به شرح زیر است.

اتحادیه اروپا عمیقا از خبر اعدام قریب‌الوقوع بهنام زارع که توسط یک قاضی در دادگاه شیراز به خاطر جرمی که در کودکی مرتکب شده به اعدام محکوم گشته است، نگران است.
اتحادیه اروپا تعهدهای بین‌المللی جمهوری اسلامی ایران، و بطور مشخص «میثاق بین‌المللی حقوق مدنی و سیاسی» و «کنوانسیون حقوق کودک» را که هر دو بطور آشکار اعدام کودکان یا افرادی را که در کودکی مرتکب جرم شده‌اند را منع می‌کنند، یادآوری می‌کند.
اتحادیه اروپا از جمهوری اسلامی ایران می‌خواهد که به قوانین بین‌المللی عمل کرده و اعدام آقای زارع و همه کودکان مجرم را متوقف سازد و مجازات‌های دیگری را برای کودکان مجرم در نظر بگیرد.
اتحادیه اروپا همچنین جمهوری اسلامی را فرا می‌خواند که به مناسبت ماه رمضان، دستور منع موقتی اجرای همه احکام اعدام را صادر نماید تا آغازی برای بازنگری فوری موضع بین‌المللی جمهوری اسلامی ایران و یادآوری وظایف بین‌المللی قوه قضائیه ایران باشد.
علاوه‌بر اعضای اتحادیه‌ی اروپا، کشورهای نامزد عضویت در اتحادیه اروپا مثل ترکیه، کرواسی و مقدونیه، کشورهای عضو سازمان امنیت و همکاری اروپا و بسیاری دیگر از کشورهای اروپایی غیرعضو در اتحادیه اروپا با این اعلامیه همراستا هستند.
Declaration by the Presidency on behalf of the EU on
the imminent execution of Mr Behnam Zare

The EU is deeply concerned by the news of the imminent execution of Mr Behnam Zare, who was sentenced to death by a judge of the Shiraz Court for a crime committed when he was a minor.
The EU recalls the Islamic Republic of Iran’s international commitments, and specifically the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, both clearly prohibiting the execution of minors or people who have been convicted of crimes committed while they were minors.
The EU urges the Islamic Republic of Iran to comply with International Law and to halt the execution of Mr Zare, and of all other juvenile offenders, taking in consideration alternative sentences for juvenile offenders.
The EU also calls on the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the advent of the month of Ramadan, to announce a temporary halt to all executions in order to initiate an urgent review of Islamic Republic of Iran’s international position and to remind the Judiciary of Iran’s international obligations.
The Candidate Countries Turkey, Croatia* and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, the Countries of the Stabilisation and Association Process and potential candidates Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, and the EFTA countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia align themselves with this declaration.
* Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia continue to be part of the Stabilisation and Association Process.
